Rae Jean and I were married in June of 1989. I graduated from U
Mass in 1990 and accepted a job from Tunghai University in Taiwan.
While in Taiwan, we were considered Tent Maker Missionaries and
helped with a local church plant. We were in Taiwan for 3 years and
managed to have 3 children there.
In the summer of 1993 we moved back to Portland where Rae
Jean’s parents were living. We worked with Trinity Baptist Church
doing outreach in the Kennedy Park area. This is the main reason that
we moved to Portland’s east end. In 1994 our last child was born in
Portland. For 4 years we had a mission church in the community
building in Kennedy Park. With the help of many southern churches,
we also held many bible clubs during the summer for the kids.
We joined So Portland Baptist Church in 2005 but 3 1/2 years
later were asked to help at the Chinese Gospel Church of Portland.
With the Blessing of this church we went to serve at the Chinese
church from 2009 till 2020 when COVID hit. Over the last year we
have been seeking God’s direction and feel him moving us back to
Hope Community. We are excited to see what God has in store for
this church.
